Kitesurfing - Coche
09/10/2005
Buenas dias,

hopefully you have all enjoyed the odd outing on the water and are keeping well? As much as we hate to wish summer away, and not wanting to be out done by the omnipresent Christmas dinner offerings, it is time to inform you all of our season starter trip for next year!

Keen as we are to see a different part of the world, we have once again decided to heed the call of Isla de Coche. This Venezuelan island’s lure is indeed remarkably addictive. The intoxicating mixture of reliable hair-dryer trade wind, the warm and enchanting flat water and the laid-back Latino atmosphere, do wonders for the winter blues.

With lighter winds in the mornings, steadily increasing towards the afternoon, it’s a great way to learn new moves and get used to smaller kites. This will of course add to your all-round kiting ability and set you up for spring low pressures back in Blighty. Board shorts and rash vests (for the pale amongst us) are de rigueur, so no fighting into damp, smelly neoprene. Bikinis are an optional extra should you feel the need!

Two weeks of intensive, constant coaching from us, in these perfect conditions should yield a noticeable daily improvement and make many of your kiting dreams a reality. We will be working on everything from that perfect stance to the most insane moves you could possibly imagine yourself doing. It could be a back loop or a handle-pass. We’ll get you fully visualising what you need to do, in an understandable step-by-step way. The video will be whirring to catch your greatness and the evening de-briefs could well prove entertaining.

When the muscles wave the little white flag, or we fancy a change of scenery we can opt for a spot of trekking in the rain forest of Margarita, touring the remote coastline of Coche, kiting in Cubagua, shopping (?), swirling around to salsa, or drinking fine dark rum, not to mention the obligatory beach Olympics.

You will all be housed in chalets at the Coche Speed Paradise hotel, right on the beach where we kite. These are dotted around the lush grounds and are kitted out with fridges and air-con. All your meals and local beverages (beer and rum) are included. However we will still venture out to sample the local way of life, great cheap food and fine looking dance instructors.

We have teamed up with Waveriders, and the set in stone price is £1350. This includes flights direct from Gatwick to Porlamar (Margarita) and back, accommodation, full board and our coaching. (A flight upgrade is available for £193).

There are 10 places for the fortnight. Kit can be hired if you need. At the very least we will all have fun and learn loads. We’re already excited. If you have any questions or see yourself springing into orbit with us, just mail or phone on 07729 183233.

Hasta luego
Christian and Karine
